The leading rescue
competition in the UK
UKRO 2022
West Midlands Fire Service was super-proud to host this year's 'Festival of Rescue' for the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation (UKRO)!
The festival took place at Smithfield in the centre of Birmingham on Fri 30 Sept and Sat 1 Oct between 8am-5pm.
Hundreds of firefighters from across the UK and beyond competed to be crowned 'best of the best' in a range of rescue skills:
-
Rope rescue (at the nearby 'The Forum' building and other city sites)
-
Cutting people out of crashed vehicles (extrication)
-
Treating injured people (trauma)
-
Search and rescue
But that wasn't all! For the first time, the festival also included challenges for Fire Cadets and the UK's Fittest Firefighter contest.
Not forgetting our water rescue challenges - at The Lloyds in Ironbridge on 30 Sept and at Bartley Sailing Club, Bartley Green, Birmingham on 1 Oct.
Other attractions at Smithfield included fairground rides, discounted food, fire engines and lots more to do and see.
